First time trying chopped here. I usually get Zambrero but have been finding it bland so I tried the El Fuego rice bowl. It was delicious. Full of flavour and fresh tasting. Will be back. Team are nice and I was acknowledged and serviced straight away.
I ordered a Mexican bowl, but was surprised by the choices for toppings; the place offered me hummus as a sauce. They didn’t have guacamole, salsa, or sour cream available. When I inquired, they insisted on offering hummus. It was quite strange for a Mexican menu and not what I expected. You should try next door proper Mexican place. I highly recommend the other place instead of this place.
I had a very serious experience at Chopped at Junction 14 today.
Before ordering, I clearly stated that my 7-year-old son has a severe sesame seed allergy. The staff member serving me acknowledged this. However, I was then given broccoli that contained sesame seeds.
Thankfully, I noticed this when I returned to my car before my son ate any of it. I immediately went back inside, upset and extremely concerned. Instead of receiving an apology or reassurance, the manager dismissed the issue and suggested it was somehow my fault — despite me clearly stating the allergy before ordering.
This level of carelessness and lack of allergy awareness is extremely worrying. Food allergy training is essential in food establishments, especially when dealing with allergens that can cause life-threatening reactions. I am deeply disappointed by how this situation was handled.
I’m sure if it was an Irish person serving me they would have handled this differently!!
